Submission Deadline: June 15, 2026

The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia and the International Institute of Forecasters are hosting the Conference on Real-Time Data Analysis, Methods, and Applications in Macroeconomics. The conference brings together leading researchers in real-time economic analysis and encompasses nowcasting, high-frequency data, surveys, macro-econometrics, data revisions, and macroeconomic policy.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the conference, which was first held at the Philadelphia Fed in 2001.

Call for Papers

We welcome submissions, empirical and theoretical, especially on (but not limited to) the following areas:

  • monitoring and forecasting of economic and financial developments, including the use of high-frequency data, survey data, text as data, transactions data, and granular data;
  • using preliminary and revised data in economic policy formulation and analysis;
  • machine learning applications in real-time macroeconomics;
  • probabilistic forecasts and assessments of crisis risks (financial, macroeconomic, etc.);
  • related innovative data sets and toolboxes; and
  • seasonal and cyclical adjustment for real-time monitoring and forecasting.

Each paper will have a discussant. We will give preference to complete drafts.

Ph.D. Student Session

The Philadelphia Fed's Mentoring and Advancing PhDs initiative is sponsoring a limited number of Ph.D. students to attend the conference and present their work in a short session in the plenary. Interested students should submit a preliminary draft along with a short statement on how attending and presenting complements their research agenda. Student funding will cover two nights of hotel accommodation and travel expenses up to $300.
