Areas of Expertise

Casey Ross is the operations manager for the Real-Time Data Research Center at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. He manages, validates, and maintains the accuracy and integrity of the center's data products and forecast surveys, focusing on the econometric underpinnings and their implications for decision-making.

Casey's understanding of both theoretical and applied time-series econometrics, as well as his expertise in macroeconomic data, attracted him to the center's mission.

Prior to his current role, Casey was a quantitative specialist in the Bank’s Supervision, Regulation, and Credit Department, where he analyzed detailed data on large-bank consumer lending and made it more accessible for the Fed's bank examiners. He also contributed to the launch of the Large Bank Credit Card and Mortgage Data product.

Before joining the Bank, Casey spent nearly seven years with the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) as an economist and program manager. At the BEA, he helped lead a project to improve the modeling and estimation of operating surplus by industry, implementing time-series regression models that were eventually adapted into the official GDP-by-industry statistics within the national income and product accounts. This experience developed Casey’s deep appreciation for the challenging work that goes into producing accurate and reliable economic statistics that inform decision-making throughout public and private enterprise.

Casey has a master's degree in applied economics, a post-master's graduate certificate in quantitative methods, and a bachelor's degree in economics, all from Johns Hopkins University. He has also completed nondegree coursework in advanced mathematics and database administration.
