Over the last several decades, computerization, globalization, and the declining importance of manufacturing have all driven changes in the occupational mix. Informed by these trends, academic and Bureau of Labor Statistics economists project how employment will continue to change in the coming years. This article reviews existing projections, assesses their accuracy, and explores whether there is room for improvement.
