Marie Beggin

Marie Beggin is chief executive officer of Penn East Federal Credit Union, which serves Lackawanna, Luzerne, Wyoming and Wayne Counties in Pennsylvania. She oversees all operational, financial, and administrative functions of the credit union and is involved in its philanthropic work in the community. She was appointed CEO in 2023, only the fifth in the organization’s 88-year history. She began at the credit union in 2016 as vice president of commercial and consumer lending, supporting the institution’s growth and operational evolution. Beggin has played a key role in strengthening the credit union’s lending programs, expanding services for members, and navigating the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Beggin has more than three decades of experience in the financial services industry. She began her career as a commercial credit analyst in the banking industry before progressing to the roles of commercial lender and vice president of risk management. Before joining Penn East Federal Credit Union, Beggin spent time at PNC Bank, First Liberty Bank, and Fidelity Bank.

She is actively engaged in the community through several board positions, including Leadership Lackawanna, Chamber of Commerce Metro Action Committee, and Chamber of Commerce SLIBCO/LIFE.

Beggin has a master of business administration and a bachelor of science degree in economics and finance from the University of Scranton.
