Juan Lopez

Juan Lopez is executive vice president, chief financial officer, and treasurer at Independence Health Group, the parent company of Independence Blue Cross, LLC. In this role, he is responsible for all financial functions for Independence Blue Cross (IBX) and other Independence Health Group subsidiaries and plays a key role in strategic planning for the organization.

Lopez joined IBX in 2010 as corporate controller and later became head of Investments and Treasury Services. Before assuming his current role in 2021, he was senior vice president of Finance Shared Services, where he led Corporate Accounting, Investments, Treasury, Procurement, and Building Services.

Lopez has more than 30 years of experience in finance, accounting, and audit in the health care, financial services, and banking industries, including a 13-year career at CIGNA Corporation and various roles with Aramark, GE Capital, and CoreStates Financial Corp.

Lopez is active on the boards of several organizations, including Evio, Plan Investment Fund and the Blue Venture Fund, International Plan Solutions, PIDC, Philly Soccer 26, Cristo Rey Philadelphia Charter High School, Esperanza, and Fred’s Footsteps. He has received multiple leadership honors, including Impact Honoree by City & State PA, the Heritage Award from Hispanic Media, Al Día’s Hispanic Heritage Month Pillar of Leadership Award, and CFO of the Year from the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Lopez has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from La Salle University and completed post-graduate training in Six Sigma and financial leadership. He is a certified public accountant.
