Dennis W. Pullin

Dennis W. Pullin is president and chief executive officer of Virtua Health, a not-for-profit academic health system in New Jersey with over 350 care locations.
A recognized thought leader and advocate for health equity, Pullin has held executive leadership positions in hospitals, academic medical centers, physician group practices, and private industry. Before joining Virtua in 2017, Pullin was president of MedStar Harbor Hospital and senior vice president of MedStar Health. He has also served as senior vice president and chief operating officer of MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C.; vice president of operations and business development at St. Luke’s Episcopal Health System in Houston; and vice president of acquisitions and development at Symbion Healthcare.
Pullin has earned numerous distinctions throughout his career. In 2023, Modern Healthcare recognized him as one of the 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare and one of the Top 25 Innovators in Healthcare. In 2022, Modern Healthcare recognized him as one of the nation’s Top 25 Diversity Leaders in Healthcare for his commitment to health equity and social change. Before that, the Philadelphia Business Journal honored Pullin with the Most Admired CEO award in 2019.
Pullin is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) and was a regent for the organization. He serves on the board of trustees of the American Hospital Association and is a past board member of the New Jersey Hospital Association. Pullin also serves on the regional board of directors of United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey and on the boards of several other community and civic organizations.
Pullin earned a master of science at Texas A&M University and a bachelor of arts at Texas Lutheran University.
