Philadelphia, PA — The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia has announced the appointment of Michelle Reardon to vice president of the Bank’s Public Affairs Department. Reardon was previously with DuPont, where she held various leadership roles in the company’s corporate communications department. She will report to Deborah Hayes, senior vice president of Corporate Affairs.

“We are delighted to have Michelle join our communications team,” Hayes said. “Her demonstrated success in leading communications programs complements the Fed’s commitment to engaging its stakeholders.”

Effective March 28, Reardon will work closely with the Bank’s senior executives in planning and executing communications strategies to support internal and external communications. Her responsibilities will include media relations, crisis communications, web communications, graphics, publications, and editorial services as well as the Bank’s conference center and Money in Motion exhibit.

Reardon has more than 20 years of experience in strategic communications, working for both government and industry. She started her career at DuPont in 2002, and from 2004 to 2010, she led the company’s science and technology media strategy. She managed the business communications department for DuPont Applied Biosciences and DuPont Nutrition & Health during the $6 billion acquisition of Danisco. In 2011, Reardon developed the company’s CEO and executive communications platform and strategy for DuPont Chair and CEO Ellen Kullman.

Before joining DuPont, Reardon was the deputy press secretary for U.S. Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr. from 1995 to 1999. She was also the communications director for the Delaware Economic Development Office until 2001 and the press secretary for Delaware’s Office of the Governor until 2002.

“I am honored to join the Fed and look forward to contributing to the Bank’s impactful work,” Reardon said. “I have lived in the Third District for over 20 years and believe the Bank is a critical contributor to the growth of our region and nation.”

Reardon is a member of the Eastside Charter School board of directors and serves as the chair of the communications committee. She is a graduate of the University of Delaware.
