On July 13 and 14, 2005, the Payment Cards Center hosted a two-day conference, Payment Cards and the Unbanked: Prospects and Challenges, that brought together experts from the financial services industry and from the policymaking, community development, and academic communities to examine the products, services, and providers that are emerging to meet underserved consumers’ financial needs.
