Community Development Publications & Videos



Describes community and economic development programs and issues and consumer and compliance issues inside and outside the Federal Reserve's Third District. Cascade Briefs is an electronic newsletter sent out three times/year.

Cascade Focus

Summarizes the department’s research on issues related to community development in low- and moderate-income communities and fair and impartial access to credit in underserved markets. Reports in this series are topically similar to, but more concise than, the department’s discussion papers and special reports.

Community Profiles

Provide historical information, maps, and demographic, economic, and lending data about metropolitan statistical areas (MSAs) or portions of MSAs in the Third Federal Reserve District. Information about community organizations and funding sources is also included.

Conference Summaries

Include summaries of workshops, seminars, and conferences on topics that affect low- and moderate-income people and communities.

Discussion Papers

Examine issues of affordable housing, community and economic development, financial education, and consumer credit and payments that affect low- and moderate-income people and communities.

Research in Brief

Summarizes technical research produced throughout the Federal Reserve System for community development practitioners and other interested stakeholders.

Special Reports

Look at the issues and challenges affecting low- and moderate-income people and communities.

Technical Briefs

Highlight specific affordable-housing or economic-development programs in the tri-state region (PA, NJ, or DE) or in other parts of the country.

Examine the effectiveness of pre-purchase homeownership and financial management skills counseling through a long-term, longitudinal study undertaken by the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia.
