The 2021 Rural Policy Summit was a virtual series that brought together a wide range of stakeholders, including policymakers, nonprofit leaders, academic researchers, industry professionals, and others interested in rural policy, to learn about and discuss major policy issues that affected rural Pennsylvania over the next five to 10 years. The five topic areas for the series were:

  • Education
  • Health care
  • Local services
  • Economic development
  • Agriculture

The July 22 session kicked off the series by providing a broad demographic overview of rural Pennsylvania, which helped set the stage for the monthly sessions that begun in September and wrapped up in January 2022.

The series was cohosted by the Center for Rural Pennsylvania, the Pennsylvania Office of Rural Health, the Pennsylvania Rural Development Council, the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, the Pennsylvania Downtown Center, and the Philadelphia Fed's Community Development and Regional Outreach Department.
