The Economic Futures of Kids and Communities

The 2017 conference, which convened on March 23–24 at the Marriott Marquis hotel in Washington, D.C., explored the interplay between the development of kids and their communities, with an understanding that “development” factors into key economic and social aspects of kids’ lives. High-quality and emerging research from multiple disciplines was presented in a dialogue with policymakers and community practitioners. In addition, the conference featured keynote remarks by Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen, Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis President Neel Kashkari, Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago President Charles Evans, and Harlem Children's Zone founder Geoffrey Canada.
