Joseph Abadi is an economist in our Research Department. Joseph’s research interests include innovations in fintech and digital currency as well as the connections between financial stability and the business cycle. He has worked on adapting the theory of blockchain consensus algorithms to economic environments and on understanding the consequences of financial innovation for systemic risk.

Joseph’s interest in topics related to macrofinance initially stemmed from a desire to understand the impacts of the Great Recession. He became interested in fintech because of its potential to revolutionize financial markets.

Joseph has a Ph.D. in economics from Princeton University and a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and physics from MIT.
