The Philadelphia Fed Policy Forum

November 30, 2001

The first Policy Forum, "Three Questions for Monetary Policymakers," was held on November 30, 2001. The keynote luncheon speaker was Dr. Arminio Fraga, Governor of the Central Bank of Brazil.

The Philadelphia Fed Policy Forum brought together a group o highly respected academics, policymakers, and market economists, for a discussion of important macroeconomic and monetary policy issues that the Federal Reserve will need to grapple with in the coming year. The Forum was not intended to be a traditional academic conference on monetary policy, nor was it intended to be a discussion of issues relevant to the next FOMC meeting. Rather, the Policy Forum took a longer term perspective and engaged the right people in a discussion of current macroeconomic research and its implications for monetary policy.
