Ocean County, NJ is located in the Atlantic Coastal Plain in central New Jersey and is part of the Edison, NJ metropolitan division (MD). This MD is part of the New York-Northern New Jersey-Long Island, NY-NJ-PA metropolitan statistical area (MSA).
Ocean County is the second-largest county in the state in geographic terms and is one of four New Jersey counties that border the Atlantic Ocean. The county lies between the greater New York City and Philadelphia metropolitan areas. Toms River, in Dover Township, serves as the county seat. Ocean County borders the counties of Monmouth, Atlantic, and Burlington.
